Letting Go Into
Lyn T. Christian, PMP, MCC, CFCC

The New Year is usually a time when many folks get emotionally attached to goals and resolutions. In the past, I have advocated to set a theme for the year instead. My hope has been to save us from a frantic few weeks of emotionally charged resolution driven action. Action that gets put into play because we fear what might happen in the new year if we don’t do something different or we plan new action based on regrets from the previous year. Such resolutions usually dissipate into vapor before the year even hits the first quarter because they are fueled more by negative emotions than authentic need and honest desire.

Picking a theme is a cleaner more clear practice than setting resolutions. In a nutshell, picking a theme is a simple intuitive collection of insight and vision placed within a word or phrase that describes what you most want to manifest in the upcoming year. NOT what you desire most to avoid. For instance, you might be seeking more courage or laughter, an increased sense of wellness, etc. Discern your theme then connect with it. Anchor it into your life by purchasing an iconic representation. Display this icon so you position it to lead your thoughts, encourage your actions, and broadcast your intention all year long.

Now, if you want to add jet-fuel to this profitable practice, try adding a strong dose of letting go into.

And what exactly is that?

Good question.

Letting go into means once you ’ve set your intention for the year, let go of the handrail of control and concern. It is futile. It is a waste and drain to worry about how your year will play out. Know this, what is best and most right for you is in place. It is already yours. You just can’t see it yet. Let yourself slip into the pool of possibility without expectations, without resistance. Stop the clinging, the type that masquerades around as “making things happen” and yet, it actually plays out as manipulation. Let go of the past and the future. Stand fully aware and respond to the present. Look into the moment for evidence of how things are working out for your good. Allow.

When your intention and dreams are clearly voiced out loud, you are poised to release them. Trust that you will be brought to the best possible outcome, or it will be brought to you. To let go into means you allow all the organic elements of your vision to grow naturally. Usually they end up appearing in ways far more bold and brilliant than you imagined.
